Roberto Mancini has arguably just experienced the most frustrating transfer window during his time at Manchester City, but the Premier League champions are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic. talkSport reports.
Jovetic could move to the Etihad next summer as the two clubs are on the verge of agreeing a pre-contract deal.
City were reportedly close to signing the Montenegro international last summer as part of the deal to bring Matija Nastasic to the club- who joined City for £12million.
But Jovetic was convinced to stay by the Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle, but only on the guarantee he could leave for Manchester next summer.
City have also appeared to beat European champions, Chelsea to his signature, who also expressed a strong interest in the player.
Mancini’s was frustrated to miss out on the likes of Robin van Persie to Manchester United and Eden Hazard to Chelsea, but the club managed to bring in Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair and Maicon before the window shut.
