Che Adams to Leeds United is one of the hottest rumours around the Yorkshire club at the moment.
Weeks ago we heard of Leeds’ interest in the former Birmingham City man, and in recent days we’ve learnt that the Whites have made contact with the south coast outfit about his availability.
We don’t know whether or not this transfer will happen or not, but according to Carl Anka, it’s unlikely to go through.
What’s been said then?
The Athletic’s Southampton correspondent was hosting a Q&A session on the site ahead of the Saints’ FA Cup clash.
Understandably, there were questions about Adams’ future as one user asked how likely the striker is to move to Leeds.
“The likelihood is low. Hasenhuttl isn’t silly and knows Che leaving him short up top.” Anka replied.
More of the same
Unfortunately, it’s more of what we have heard already.
Phil Hay has already stated that he believes Saints need a signing up top before they would begin thinking about letting Adams go, and Anka says that the Premier League outfit would be left short up top without the 23-year-old.
It’s a crushing blow to Leeds’ hopes as the journalist states that the likelihood of the striker heading to Elland Road anytime soon is incredibly unlikely.
With Adams scoring 22 times last season in the Championship, he’s a player that would have surely boosted their promotion hopes. However, this is one of their biggest blows yet.
Perhaps it’s time for the Yorkshire club to look towards some other striking options to replace Eddie Nketiah rather than wasting time to see if the St Mary’s side sign another striker.
In other news, Marcelo Bielsa’s recent comments may indicate that Leeds only need one signing this month.
